I speak to and provide workshops for different organizations including healthcare, pharmaceutical, employers, employee groups, not-for-profits, etc.
For healthcare related organizations, topics can include how Scleroderma patients experience everyday life, what do patients want versus what they experience when interacting with healthcare professionals, how to communicate potential side effects versus benefits of medications to patients, or how to communicate new research and new clinical trials to as many patients as possible. My experience as a patient, a scientist and a science communicator provides me the background to address these type of topics.
For employers and employee organizations, talks and workshops can include how to better understand the needs of employees with Scleroderma or any other conditions that can impact work life, what are the employees needs such as frequent doctor appointments and extra time off, how can organizations integrate employees needs with current healthcare plans and policies. Workshops will guide employers through a step by step process to understand their employee population and their needs, better understand how well current policies provide for employees needs and their impact on productivity and outcomes, and help employers choose the best healthcare plan options to both lower costs and provide the best options for their employee population. Processes such as Blueprinting, Lean & Six Sigma, Kaizens, and others are used to help organizations find the best solutions.
